Safeguarding Our Mental Health During the Coronavirus Pandemic

Safeguarding our mental health and well-being and that of our children, at a time when our day to day living is changing, is vitally important.

The Government has issued ‘Guidance for parents and carers on supporting carers on supporting children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak’

The Government’s guide advises parents and carers on how to help their children and themselves, care of their mental health and well-being.  Advise includes:

  • maintaining/establishing routines,
  • listening/ acknowledging feelings or concerns,
  • providing consistent information and
  • ensuring that connections with family members and friends remotely is maintained regularly.

The Government have already confirmed “When parents do not live in the same household, children under 18 can be moved between parent’s homes” unless a specific exception applies and are encouraging separated parents to co-parent during this COVID 19 Pandemic. This can often be difficult to do.

We have already and continue to receive requests from parents and carers to help them make appropriate arrangements during this Pandemic.

We provide mediation via Video conferencing.  This has already proved to be helpful to families.  Visit our website www.midlandsdove.co.uk or email us your request at enquiries@midlandsdove.co.uk and our experienced co-ordinators will contact you to discuss how we can help.

Using mediation was very useful for my circumstances and was dealt with, very good indeed and things always explained clearly
